Founded in 1973 as the first contemporary dance company in the Chinese-speaking world, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan is celebrated for blending traditional practices with ballet, contemporary movement, and street dance. Acclaimed as Asia’s leading contemporary dance theater, the company has captivated audiences around the globe with its distinctive physical language and breathtaking artistry.
The evening features Blue Hour / Beckoning, a double bill of foundational works by Artistic Director CHENG Tsung-lung. Inspired by the hazy predawn sky of New York, Blue Hour captures the fleeting moment when day and night blur in a haunting meditation on solitude. Beckoning draws from the Taiwanese street-dancing ritual of the Eight Infernal Generals, transforming the vibrant movement of temple processions into a mysterious, playful, and poetic exploration of humanity in constant motion.
